Yesterday at night, i worked on the script for the presentation. And today Ashley finished off by adding pictures.
All i need to worry about right now, is the presentation itself. Me and Ashley needs to present this powerpoint to other classes in period4. :$
Now we can relax, although we still have to add our script into the powerpoint notes. So the teachers can read it later on:)

19th Friday June 2009~~~3rd Inquiry Day

Our plan for today is to finish off the PowerPoint and start the script if we need to present the PowerPoint on the last day of inquiry.
Our main aim, main target for today is to complete the whole presentation and add decorations if needed.

After 2nd period, me and ashley finished most of the powerpoint already. In 3rd and 4th period we will only need to complete the finishing touches and continue on with the script. Because in 1st period, i already started the script. So now we have quite tight and prepared schedule.

Unfourtunately, today we had a surprise assembly for Mr. Cottam during period3. So we had less time to finish the powerpoint, although we still managed to finish the powerpoint. Our aim NOW, is to complete the final touches.

Today during 4th period, we learnt something about powerpoints. Mr.Brown gave us a youtube video to watch. It taught us a lot of things about powerpoints and formats of the powerpoints. So we have an idea now, of how to make a good powerpoint presentation. :)

On monday, we would like to work on our script. :)

16th Tuesday July 2009

During the days of interviewing, me and my partner realized and found out that Swimming isn't a culture. So far, most of the people we interviewed say that swimming isn't a culture, its a passion/sport.
This made me and my partner curious, it made both of us to worry about if we need to change it now or not. In the end, our final descision was to change the topic "swimming" into the new topic "Chinese Culture."

We wanted to try out the questionaire ourselves too. So under here will be our answers for the questionaire we made:
Swimming Questions
© Do you think that swimming is a culture?
We think that swimming isn’t a culture, but we think that it’s a part of our lives, which leads to being a part of ourselves.
© Do you find swimming interesting? Why?
We find swimming interesting, because it’s fun, and it can help me have a better and healthier life.
© Why did you start learning the sport swimming?
We started learning the sport swimming at first, because our parents forced us. But now my parents are forcing me out of swimming, while I really like this sport.
© What do you think of swimming as a culture?
We don’t think that swimming is a culture; it’s a passion/sport.
© What kind of identity do you think swimming has?
It has an identity of sports.
© Would you say that you are a part of swimming culture?
No, because we don’t think that swimming culture. We think that it is a passion/sport.

After trying the questionaire ourselves, we both now have a idea why our answers were like that. So far now, i would like to aim for finishing 3quarters of the powerpoint. So we can have a longer time with editing and interviewing.

Listed down here are the prompt questions from Mr.Parker:

Each entry in your journal should include the following:
1. Description of what happened at the mentor meeting (if you had one that day)
2. Record goals/objectives for the upcoming week
3. Any idea/action carried out
4. Reflection on what you have done this weekUse the following as a guide for writing your reflections:- What did you do?- What did you think?- What didn't you do?... and what could or should you have done?- What decisions did you make as a group?- What did yo decide to change and what are the reasons for making the change?- Were there any problems? How did you deal with them? What did you learn about yourself? Which skills did you use well? (communication, social, thinking, research, self management?)- What made you happy, annoyed, frustrated, angry, nervous disappointed, proud...?- Where are you going next?

Inquiry Day 1 ~~~ 11th Thursday June 2009

Today is the first day of inquiry, we first started the day by showing and telling our object that we think is a part of our culture or part of ourselves. (hobbies, favourite sport.etc.)

We then got into groups of 2, we brainstormed what the word 'culture' means. After that, we went into second period. And then we started our presentation.

At first me and my partner chose the subject "Diving" but we didn't know anything about diving. so we had some help from Mr.Parker. At the end, we ended up with an conclusion. We changed our subject to "Swimming" because we both know about swimming. Which makes it easier for us to work on our presentation meaning our inquiry project.

Now we are starting to develop questions for our interviews, we are planning to ask 6 people including, students, teachers, family members.etc. Our aim currently, is to develop around 15 questions for the interviews.

Questions for our interviews:
© Do you think that swimming is a culture?
© Do you find swimming interesting? Why?
© Why did you start learning the sport swimming?
© What do you think of swimming as a culture?
© What kind of identity do you think swimming has?
© Would you say that you are a part of swimming culture?
© Did swimming affect your life? How?
© Do you have a different identity or culture now that you started swimming?
